Elephant Fall
Ages ago, this waterfall cascaded down a giant rock that was shaped like an elephant, hence the name. That rock was destroyed by an earthquake in 1897; the Falls, however, continue to mesmerise. The first of the three falls is easily accessible; the second fall is almost like a hidden treasure; and the third fall is the mightiest of the three.

Umiam Lake
Enveloped by lush green hills, Umiam Lake lies a breezy 15 kilometres away from Shillong. One of the most mesmerizing lakes in India, this reservoir is veiled in mist and cloaked in green. At its most gorgeous during golden sunrises and liquid sunsets, the very popular Umiam Lake is also a hub of water and adventure sports.
