Vivanta Hyderabad, Begumpet

The iconic crown jewel of Hyderabad, this magnificent 16th-century monument stands proudly in the heart of the old city. With its four towering minarets and arches, Charminar is an architectural marvel and a symbol of Hyderabad’s rich cultural heritage and glorious past. It is undoubtedly one of the best tourist places in Hyderabad.

Founded by the Kakatiya dynasty, the massive 12th century fortress with eight gates and 87 bastions was completed by the Qutub Shahi kings. It is said that Golconda used to be a famous diamond market attracting merchants from all over the world. It was here that the famous Kohinoor and Hope diamonds, along with other jewels, were stored. Don’t miss out on the sound and light show for a crash course in Golconda’s history.

Asia’s largest artificial lake was built during the reign of Ibrahim Quli Shah in 1563. Connecting Hyderabad and Secunderabad, the heart-shaped landmark is one of the must-see places in Hyderabad. A popular recreation spot, it attracts both locals and tourists for leisurely boat rides, sunset views and water sports. The annual regatta - Hyderabad Sailing Week - here draws sports persons from all over the country.

Hussain Sagar Lake

One of India’s largest and most prestigious museums, the Salar Jung Museum, houses an extensive collection of exquisite art, rare antiques and global artifacts, making it an essential stop for history and art enthusiasts. It also offers guided tours, interactive exhibits and engaging hands-on activities tailored for adults and children.

Located on a hillock at a height of 280 feet towards the southern end of Hussain Sagar Lake, the glistening white marble temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Sri Venkateswara. Showcasing an architectural blend of styles from South India and the state of Orissa, it boasts of finely-sculpted marble statues depicting scenes from the Indian epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata. 

Birla Mandir

Constructed over 200 years ago, the official residence of the nizams features Persian, Rajasthani, European, and Indo-Saracenic architecture. Other attractions include the clock tower (Khilwat clock), Roshan bungalow (named after the mother of the sixth Nizam) and the spectacular Durbar Hall offering a glimpse of unique crockery, clothing, furniture, coins and currency. 

Chowmahalla Palace

The most enjoyable family destination in Hyderabad, India’s first zoo to have animals arranged in zoological order in open enclosures, is home to more than 193 species including the Indian rhino, Asiatic lion, Bengal tiger, panther, gaur, Indian elephant, slender loris python as well as deer and antelopes. The 600-acre Mir Alam Tank with its unique multiple arched bund (embankment) attracts hundreds of migratory birds.
